I’ve been reading Psalm 1 and the words that I felt come alive were “day and night“.
Psalm 1:2,3 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.
3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither- whatever they do prospers.
I want to to meditate and soak in the word of God day and night. How can I do this? I am asking God to show me. One way to soak in God’s word is through focusing on a specific scripture and thinking about it, meomorizing , and reading or saying the scripture out loud .
God’s word is powerful! I want to feed on the word of God because it gives me revelation, wisdom, and life. I’ve noticed that when I say scripures out loud that it has power. I am declaring the word over my life.
Praying the word back to God is also a way to meditate day and night .
“Thank You Lord that You are my shepherd and I will not want. You are restoring my soul and Your goodness and mercy is following me everyday of my life.”
We can be in a mindset of prayer and thankfulness to God throughout the day. Even on days when the schedule is off track and I’ve missed my time with the Lord in the morning, I can pray as I go about my day; getting ready, driving in the car, waiting in the drivethru.
I can keep my mind on the word of God and pray throughout the day. His presence is always with us.
Listening to worship music is another way to meditate on God’s word day and night. I like to listen to worship while I’m praying, and then throughout the day . Sing the word; sing scriptures back to God. Worship and praise is a weapon! God always strengthens me when I praise and worship Him in singing!
My prayer is
“Father, help me to meditate on Your word day and night so that Your word is deep in my heart. Let my life reflect Your love and let others feel Your presence when I’m around. Saturate me with your love and Your presence. Let others see You through me. Make me more like You Jesus. Let Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.”
The passion translation says this:
Psalm 1:2,3 : Their pleasure and passion is remaining true to the Word of “I Am”, meditating day and night in his true revelation of light.
3 They will be standing firm like a flourishing tree planted by God’s design, deeply rooted by the brooks of bliss; bearing fruit in every season of their lives. They are never dry, never fainting, ever blessed, ever prosperous.
Joshua 1:8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
God promises to make our lives prosperous and fruitful if we will meditate and walk in His word day and night!
